The End is In Sight!

Shorty is a little tease. Weeks 34 and 35 meant tons of contractions and some progress. I've learned to ignore the "maybe today?" thought because it was just driving me nuts.

Weeks 36 and 37 the contractions stopped and I think he climbed up further in my belly (if babies can do that. We still had some progress and my doctor thought he would come a week early on his own, so we cancelled the sono we were going to have to check the size and decided to let him come on the day God chose for his birthday.

Yesterday, week 38, things continued to progress. For all you mamas out there who get excited about this stuff - I'm 3 cm dilated and I could pretty much go at anytime. YAY! Just in case, we did schedule an induction for December 7, next Tuesday. Oh hallelujah...I love that kind of deadline!

Can't wait to meet this little guy and start this new phase of our family!

Shhhhhh!!!

Wyatt is supposed to be napping, but he's having a hard time taking naps these days. Yesterday he took over an hour to fall asleep for a 45 minute nap.

He's been in bed for almost 20 minutes now and chattering and chattering away on the monitor. Every once in awhile he'll catch himself and go "Shhhh! Shhhh!" Silly kid. Unfortunately he's not listening to himself. I think it's time to go shut this party down.

Cleaning Up

Saturday morning was a chilly one! Perfect for my boys to go out and rake leaves. I dressed Wyatt in his play clothes including two sweatshirts and his bright blue hat and sent him out with Daddy.
No little rake for Wyatt...his matched Daddy's.
"Cheese!"

Ooohhhh fun piles of leaves!

He sat there long enough to endure the picture and then wanted "up! up!"

Wyatt and Food

Ahhh...food. Toddlers and food. Breakfast goes great (this morning he ate 4 mini pancakes and a half banana). Lunch usually good. Dinner? The struggle of the day. He just doesn't want to try the food. Remember the new word, "no"? Yeah, he practices a lot at dinner.

We had sloppy joes Monday night. Wyatt wouldn't try it until we added ketchup. Apparently, he didn't watch me make dinner and add all the ketchup to the skillet.

Another one of his new words is "tookie." He can spot a tookie a mile away. A tookie or a dessert in a 9x13 cakepan. Not kidding.

Wyatt - 18 months

Our sweet boy turned 18 months on October 26th. Yep, I'm a bit late, but I wanted to give an update. No stats yet. His 12 month appointment ended up happening at almost 14 months because of sickness and schedules, so his 18 month appointment will actually be close to 20 months.

Favorite activities - playing with anyone...he's a social bird! Looking at books, mostly truck books, but he's getting a lot better at listening to stories. He and his daddy like to go fly-hunting, each armed with a fly swatter. Tonight after dinner while I washed dishes, they went exploring with flashlights around the dark house. Great fun! He also loves to play in the dirt. When Randy tilled up our garden space a few weeks ago, Wyatt came in covered with dirt. He had been "helping" with his toy lawn mower.

Favorite toys - his stuffed Hobbs (actually a Tigger that we call Hobbs). He walks around going, "Hobbs, Hobbs, Hobbs." His trucks.

Words - He tries new words all the time. A lot of things sound like "daddy." It can mean "doggy" or "giraffy" (his silky) or "daddy," and he says it a lot! He says, "A-mean!" when we're done praying. And his hello and bye-bye make me laugh. We have them on video....I'm just bad at loading it.

His newest thing is "no, no, no." And he absolutely knows what it means. We know that because he also knows how to clearly communicate what he wants. He also often says, "No, no, no" in a very serious tone about the time he's actually doing the no-no. I was working on the nursery this weekend, and from the bathroom next door I heard "no, no, no." I peeked in just in time to see Wyatt pulling toilet paper off the roll by the yard. We're now working on a toddler version of James 4:17, " To him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin."

And just in case you were curious, Wyatt does know his brother's name, but don't bother asking him...we can hardly understand it. Nice try though.

Space - Wyatt moved into his new big boy room a couple weeks ago. It's a big boy room with a big boy bed...and a crib. Right now he uses the bed for reading books. We're not attempting sleeping in that bed for a few months. Let's get past turning his world upside down with his brother's arrival before we try that.

Sleep - Bedtime at 8. Wakes up between 7 and 8, and naps a little over an hour. I miss 2 and 3 hour naps, but he seems to have waved them good-bye.

Loves - Wyatt gives the best little boy hugs and kisses. He sometimes doesn't really hug us, but he does make the bear squeeze noise (errrr!). It makes me smile.

He's such a sweet, loving boy. He has his daddy's servant heart and he loves to be a big helper. He actually is a good helper too. He's going to be a great big brother!

We have a ridiculous number of pictures of Wyatt eating, but I had to show these too. This was on Wyatt's 18-month birthday. He got a sliver of chocolate cake with plenty of frosting. I think he liked it.

I stink.

I know. I have a bunch of pictures to download and no time to do it. So for the moment you get a pic of my cookie monster.

As for the other cookie monster (at least he makes me one), we have a sono scheduled for November 22 to check his size. If he looks like he'll be as big as his brother (8 lb, 12 oz), we'll induce early...maybe December 6th, which is only 25 days from now. Yay! He finally has a name, and his room is almost ready. Pics to come. We're definitely ready to meet this little guy!

We're also praying and praising God for his friend Levi who was scheduled to be 2 weeks younger than him. Check out The Fish Pond on the right.

Today I found...

...my first gray hair. Less than a month before my 30th birthday. I really didn't mind my 30th birthday until I realized that gray hair came with it (and the two munchkins?).

I texted my husband (who just started the second week in his new position and has far more important things to hear about than his wife's gray hairs) as soon as I found it. He's been giving me a bit of a hard time about my upcoming milestone (funny since he has five years on me), so I wasn't sure what his response would be.

While I'm sure there was a chuckle when he read it, his response personified Proverbs 25:11 - "A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver." His response? "I'm 'going' bald!"

Suddenly it was all okay.

Bring on 30!
