Wyatt Jacob

Thanks to all of you for your comments and well wishes!

I really couldn't have asked for a better labor and delivery, and the little one who joined us is absolutely amazing! The Lord has blessed us in ways I can't describe. I know all new parents say this, but I really can't get enough of looking at him and watching is expressions and kissing those chubby cheeks. And, yes, he is a little chunk. He was about a pound larger than any of us expected, which explains my belly sticking straight out for the last couple of weeks.

We came home on Tuesday are spending our time getting adjusted to one another. Randy is off for two weeks, and I'm so thankful to have him here.Wyatt with all of his proud grandparents.

Daddy showing Wyatt his first four-wheel magazine. This is only the first of many...I think Wyatt was very impressed with this one.

Ready to go home!
Wyatt sleeps with his hands cuddled by his head, and very often he sleeps on one. This pose just made us laugh.

Here's Wyatt's introduction to his room. So far things seem to be working out well.

A New Season In Life

Itty Bitty is here! But before I get to the preciousness that is baby Regehr, I better introduce myself. For those of you who may live under a rock don't know me, I'm Lindsay - Dana's SIL (married to her brother, Jeff). I normally post over here, but am honored to guest post for Dana today because ITTY BITTY IS FINALLY HERE and she's (obviously) a tad bit busy...you know, doing all that new mom stuff...like getting the sorest neck EVER because you can't stop looking down at your baby.

I would like to introduce to you:

Wyatt was born at approximately 1:00pm today, and the reason I say "approximate" is because I am not privy to that information, apparently. What I am privy too, however, is the fact that she started pushing at 10:20am, 30 seconds after she sent me a text (don't you just love modern technology mixed with an epidural?) saying that her bet was 10:27am and Randy's bet was 10:40am...ha! Little did they know, that had a miniature cowboy on their hands! I mean come on - just look at those cowboy-riding thighs!

When Dana asked me to guest-post for her when she had Itty Bitty Wyatt, I didn't know whether I should impart such grand motherly wisdom (because having two makes you an expert, you know...) such as pee before tending to him at various times during the dead of night because you never know when you'll ever get to go again. Or, be sure to pack at least two extra shirts for YOU because there will be leaking going on. Or how about the fact that you should just keep a bottle of Green Works cleaner on the changing table because there WILL be urine on the wall, a lot...not to mention on anything else within 2.34 feet.

But, being that this is their first baby, I thought better of it and decided that I should just let them realize the special blessing a first baby is, on their own. Because really, it is. You can never have another first, back. There's just something about learning along with that firstborn that's extra special. There's nothing better than hearing your baby coo for the first time, or say "mommy" and "daddy," for the first time...because no matter how old they are when they say it, you think they're a gosh-darn genius.

So Wyatt Jacob ~ Welcome to the world little one. You were SO wanted and loved before your mommy and daddy even heard your first heartbeat. Your family loves you to pieces and can't wait to share in your firsts, love and kiss on your tiny little cheeks (sorry if some are wet...you'll get used to those), and watch you grow into the man that you'll all-too-quickly become.

Today was my last day of full-time work. For the past 4 years and 8 months I have driven to the same office building. I worked two different jobs in that building, but I've driven to the same (really bumpy) parking lot every day. When I changed jobs after a year, I switched bathroom stalls. I figured that something had to change. Today a lot more has changed. I'll still drive down there once a week or so after we've all had a chance to adjust to our new family, and I'll still get to remotely access my desktop computer from my home office (I love technology). But it's all changing for the better!

IB dropped again today. He really can't go much farther, and my doctor doesn't think I'll make it through the weekend still prego. But if I do, we went ahead and scheduled an induction for Tuesday morning. I know, I'm impatient. But if IB's as ready as the doctor says he is, we shouldn't have to wait that long.

And I will really miss feeling him move. That has to be one of the most intimate, amazing sensations a woman can feel!

Oh, and Randy's guess is 7 lbs. 11 oz. Mine is 7 lbs. 13 oz. We're probably both low!

EIGHT days!

Only eight days till we're scheduled to meet the precious little face in this picture! Really hard to believe my (large) basketball was such a tiny peanut only 31 weeks ago! My next appointment is tomorrow, and considering how much IB has dropped in the past two days, I don't think there's any way I can still be at a two...however, I'm a newbie, so I could certainly be surprised. Here's hoping....

Hubby's Mad Skillz

Saturday Randy and my dad moved in the last piece of furniture Randy could build for our house...our dresser. We now only have four pieces of furniture that he hasn't replaced - our two night stands, our dining room table, and the hope chest my grandpa built. So I guess there are three pieces left for him to replace. Out the door went my little dresser I've had for about 13 years and 6 homes. It was falling apart. In came a very large dresser. So large that everything in my little old dresser fits in half of this dresser with room to spare. AND I have a jewelry drawer...no more wasted space and lost earrings. Randy and I actually share a dresser now...although he still has the closet across the hall. And we have another mostly empty dresser in the office. Know what that means??? Extra storage...my favorite!!

On a completely different topic, in case any of you were wondering at 38 weeks baby may stick straight out, but I'm still within the normal weight range...bring on the ice cream! :-)

Racing to the Finish

This is little Miss Fish's mommy Jodi at her shower on Saturday. She's six days behind me, and we're on a race to the finish. Our hubbies are trying to get us to go into labor at the same time, so they can have a diversion. :-) I think we'll give them one either way.

And yes, I do feel like a big orange sun ball in the shirt, but it's bright and springy and I like it!

36 weeks!

Okay, we're actually at 36 weeks and 5 days, but who's counting? Here's the latest belly pic. And since his room is ready for him, we might as well take the belly pics in the baby room!

This was Snow Weekend Project #3, a gift for our new little friend Miss Fish, who is due to arrive 6 days after IB. We'll see who wins this race. :-)

It was fun to make girly blocks, too! There are so many more fun girl options than there are for boys...although I have to say the little cowboys on IB's blocks were pretty fun.

Hope...Ancient Word Wednesday

Today the word has been hope. This whole week actually. My brother started it with his amazing example of hope in the Lord despite the Red River's rising waters. Last week I called to check in with him, and he sounded so weary from hours of sandbagging and working. At that point they hadn't even started to pack up their house. But there was hope in his voice. He was the one who reminded me to wrap my theology around the situation. God knew about the flood long, long ago. He knew exactly what would happen when and to whom. Jeff had hope in Romans 8:28...that God causes all things to work for the good of those He calls.

"McMama" is another amazing example of hoping in the Lord as she watches her son fight for his 5 month old life - check out her blog. Her hope is not in the doctors, her hope is in the Lord.

Hope in God rises above all the other stuff...it's like a warm comforting blanket that settles and quiets. Or an umbrella offering protection from life's torents. It brings peace. It's not hope for hope's sake. It's hope in Who God is. The sovereign God of all the universe. The God of Job 38-40.

"And now, Lord, what do I wait for? My hope is in You." Psalm 39:7
