Catching Up

I am so far behind on posts! If only I could post them as I write them in my head, I'd be set. I'll start with the latest.

1. Happy First Father's Day, Randy & Wyatt!

Doesn't that just melt your heart!?! So does this next one. Wyatt got to spend a little one-on-one time with his Great Grandpa Regehr at the Regehr Father's Day celebration Sunday night.


2. Wyatt learned a new trick last week at 7 1/2 weeks. It's kind of hard to tell in the picture, but he's pushing himself off the floor during tummy time now. That's my big strong boy! (How big? We'll find out at his 2 month appointment on Monday. Two weeks ago he was about 11 lbs!)


3. Last weekend we went up to Kansas City to help Brian and Jennifer finish their deck. Well, the boys helped finish the deck. Randy built some really comfy benches, and the girls went garage saling and sewed throw pillows for the benches.

Wyatt even got to help!


Grammie and Wyatt scouted some sweet deals for us. We found a bike trailer - the number one hunt for the summer - and a play gym for Wyatt that he's been enjoying. It makes fun nature sounds and has some mesmerizing lights on it. We also found a bunch of 3-6 month clothes, which is good because Wyatt would have been practically naked in a couple months if we hadn't.


4. MMMMmmm...cake! It's been awhile since I've showcased one of Randy's yummy creations, but this one was too pretty and yummy to pass up! The chocolate cake had a marshmallow creme filling and chocolate drizzled over the top. It was like one big mud pie cookie! SO good!


5. Diapers, diapers...I don't know if I've mentioned this before but we're cloth diapering. Not because it's "green" but because it's MUCH easier on our budget! And we're not doing the pre-folds and covers, we're going as close to disposables as possible with BumGenius one size fits all dipes. I've found there's a whole language and culture out there for cloth diapering; I'm not that hard core. But it is working really well. We have 26 dipes, and right now I do laundry every other day. It's really not that bad, but I'm ordering at least 4 more soon. I'm dealing with a little dipe stink right now, but I think that's a detergent issue, so I'm getting ready to experiment.

Back to the Real World

Two bags packed and loaded in the car at night. Outfits laid out. Lists made.

Nope this was not for a weekend out of town. It was for my first day back to work today, and Wyatt's first day with Grandma. Welcome back to real life.

Thank the Lord that it's only for two days. It takes a lot of energy to get this all figured out! Tomorrow is my last day as director of economic development. After that I'll get to do research and eco devo project support from home...mostly. I'm excited to start and to get into our real routine (however close we can get to a routine at this point).

And SO thankful I don't have to leave Wyatt everyday!!!

A Better View

We like our neighborhood. It's fairly quiet, and some younger families are starting to move in. It's not the place we plan to be forever, but it's been a great place to start out. Sadly enough, our next door neighbor doesn't care to enjoy his backyard as much as enjoy ours. For the past four years we've looked at an old broken down car he's meant to restore for the past 10 or so years and completely overgrown trees and falling down fence.


The first year we planted honeysuckle on the chain link fence hoping desperately that it would grow quickly and hide the mess. I think it really only added to the picture of chaos. We have talked about putting up a privacy fence on that side of the yard, but we never wanted to spend the money, thinking we had more important projects for that money. But this spring Randy priced the project and it was a lot cheaper than we thought. So right after Wyatt was born, Randy got to work.
Once he got the post holes dug, the fence went up super fast!

It's a great view now! Neat and clean with rose of sharon bushes breaking up the long wood fence, we think it makes our yard look larger. And no longer do we sit on the patio and mourn the old car. Good work, honey!!
