New Beginnings at the Fair

A year ago on Governor's Day at the KS State Fair, the Siemens team came for their first major visit. We had made the cut from more than 50 communities down to 4.

Today at Governor's Day at the KS State Fair, we held the ceremonial groundbreaking on Siemens' North American wind turbine nacelle plant. What a huge, exciting deal!!!

Kevin Hazel, VP of Supply Chain Management, and our contact through this entire process. He has become a great friend to Hutchinson and the community!!

Getting ready to turn dirt with shiny new shovels. While most of the dirt was from the State Fair, there was a bucket of dirt from Salt City Business Park. Governor Parkinson is in the middle with the blue shirt.

This destination stone will sit outside the entrance of the new plant when it is completed in 2010.

Lord willing there are also eternal new beginnings starting at the State Fair, too. Of far more importance than a new plant that creates new jobs is new life in Christ...a life of hope that never wavers, a life of full forgiveness of sin! Check out the Grace Bible Church website for updates!

Big Helper Wyatt

Wyatt helped me make the bed today. He didn't like that it was so soft that he couldn't roll over on his own, but did he ever try! He did a great job playing peek-a-boo with the clean sheets and slobbering all over them. He giggled and giggled!

It took awhile, but we finally got the bedspread on. It wasn't as smooth as usual, but making the bed was a lot more fun!


And when the pillows went on, Wyatt decided that the bed was his. He loved sitting up in bed, waiting for Mommy to bring breakfast, I think. He kicked and kicked his feet on the sheets - 300 thread count makes for softer sheets than his, but then you have to grow into 300 thread count.

Three blowouts. Three days. Mmmm...cereal. Nuff said.

I'm Thankful

Thankful that this little surgery took place on a three day weekend when Randy is home to help.
Thankful that I only have to keep my wrist and hand wrapped and dry for three days.
Thankful that the surgery did not include any muscle or anything that would restrict movement.
Thankful that it already feels almost as good as it did before the surgery.
Thankful that it's my left hand.
And thankful that I can cuddle and hold my Wyatt-Bear.

Yes, Yes All Over Again

We'll start with the fun stuff first. Thursday marked four years since Randy proposed in Oklahoma City. So of course, we had to take our fifth picture in front of the sweet autumn climatis. Thanks for asking, babe! I'd say yes again!!

Thursday night we got to spend with Cousin Justin and Aunt Nanci who came from Phoenix for the weekend. I think Justin liked that Wyatt could do a few more things than he could at four weeks. He laughed for Justin and was mesmerized with the marbles Justin was playing with (carefully and not too close to Wyatt who sticks EVERYTHING in his mouth!


Friday Randy and I spent 4 1/2 hours in the surgery center. Most of that time was spent waiting for my very short and minor surgery. I developed a sharp, bony bump on the side of my wrist since Wyatt was born. My family doctor x-rayed it and thought it was bone that somehow attached to the bone and sent my to an orthopedist. The orthopedist didn't think it was a cyst, but he didn't know what it was. He said if it didn't bother me I should leave it alone, but if it was a bother, I should take it off. It was definitely a bother at times, so we decided to go ahead and get it removed. Turns out it was a cyst on my tendon and a bad case of tendonitis. It's wrapped up for three days and sore, but shouldn't take long to heal. The picture was taken last night after a day in the surgery center then hanging out at my mom's.

Pure Frustration

I wish you could have heard Wyatt when we took this picture (we forgot to videotape that time) getting very tired, and was incredibly frustrated that he couldn't get the toy in his mouth! Errrr, Mommy! I need to figure out how to edit video on our camera and upload some footage. We've caught some great expressions while attempting to get cereal into Wyatt. Today was our third time and he did much better!

Has anyone else ever done this? I'm chopping my hair in a couple weeks (every time Wyatt pulls it I REALLY can't wait to do it!) I saw this cut on a show on HGTV last night, so I took a picture (several actually) of the tv. We'll see how it turns out.

Personal Best

I. love. coupons. Especially stacking them, which is new to me. Yesterday I had a personal best. Boxes of Huggies wipes were on sale at Dillons for $9.29. Minus 4 coupons multiplied, we got them for $5.29. That's a sweet deal.

Any personal best couponing stories out there?

And later that day...
For the first time I actually saved more than I spent! Two boxes of rice cereal and a bag of salad. Cost $2.84. Savings $3.69. Woo-hoo!

And speaking of rice cereal...Wyatt had his four month appointment yesterday. He weighs 14 lbs, 3 oz, and I forgot to ask what percentile he is. Oops. Our doctor thinks he's ready for cereal and that he could use the calories since his growth rate slowed a bit. Wyatt might be ready, but I'm not so sure Mommy's ready. FOOD? Already? Slow down, sweet boy!!!

Aunt Janene dug out her johnny-jump-up for Wyatt to try. Can we say FUN new toy? He looks a little scared in this picture, but he really does love it. He's almost rolling over, too. Randy's bet is Thursday for the complete roll over. That silly arm just gets in the way!
